Enter the Real Estate Field. While there are many careers in real estate, some might pay better than others. Most careers and jobs in real estate you can choose your own hours and even become self-employed or an independent contractor. Many careers in real estate don't require a formal degree, but still may require some training and/or licensing. Several careers include:

Appraisers and Assessors of Real Estate An apprenticeship  may be required through on-the-job training. Appraisers and assessors of real estate should possess knowledge of the construction and building processes. They should also possess knowledge of math. Basic office skills are also needed. Knowledge in geography, finance and real estate regulations should also be possessed. Organizational skills are also necessary.Appraisers and assessors of real estate should possess the ability to make good decisions, troubleshooting skills and have good people skills. Good verbal and written skills are also necessary. Appraisers and assessors of real estate should also possess good vision, as well as good speaking skills.

Real Estate Agents Lengthy on-the-job-training can be expected, as well as formal training and/or licensing. Real estate agents are salespersons who are generally under the supervision of a real estate broker. In some states, real estate agents are known as real estate brokers. Like real estate brokers, the ability to have a flexible schedule and the ability to use their own vehicle is necessary. Good communication skills are necessary, as well as good sales skills. Knowledge of basic office equipment and technology is needed. Knowledge of real estate laws should be possessed. Good written and verbal skills are also needed.

Real Estate and Community Association Managers Between one and five years of related experience may be needed. Formal training and/or licensing may be required. Basic office skills are needed when becoming a manager of property . Knowledge of computers and relevant software are also needed. Good communications skills and sales skills should also be possessed, as well as good written and verbal skills. Proficiencies in math, bookkeeping and finance are also needed.

Loan Officer and Loan Originators To become a mortgage loan officer, a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent may be needed. Some on-the-job training to become a loan officer may also be required. Training and licensing to originate residential mortgage loans are required. Generally, the Division of Finance through applicable states will  be able to provide any requirements for loan officer licensing. Knowledge of accounting and finances are useful when entering this career. Potential loan officers should also possess good written and verbal communications skills. Excellent sales skills are also necessary.

Real Estate Brokers You’ll most likely need between one and five years of experience for this line of work. Formal training and licensing are required. The ability to have a flexible schedule and the use of a personal vehicle is necessary when becoming a real estate broker. Good communication skills are necessary, as well as good sales skills. Knowledge of basic office equipment and technology is needed.Knowledge of real estate laws should be possessed. Good written and verbal skills are also needed.
